Africa Overview: Who doesn’t feel self-absorbed sometimes, navigating a potentially busy, time-starved, modern urban life? Well, if you are willing to be knocked off that pedestal, in the most remarkable, exhilarating fashion - to fully experience the vastness of life - visit Tanzania. A destination wedding in Tanzania will make you appreciate the wonder of having found love, surrounded as you will be by the largest, wildest animal population in the world (wildebeest, lion, cheetah, crocodile, antelope, gazelle, flamingo, monkey); the highest peak in Africa…Mount Kilimanjaro; the Serengeti Desert; Lake Tanganyika, the world’s second-largest fresh-water lake; and more. There is a life-altering vastness to Tanzania, and its island state, Zanzibar.

Tanzania is home to the Massai tribe and the Hadzabe Bushmen. The Zanzibar archipelago has been a tempting destination for travelers, traders, pirates, colonists - and lovers - for centuries. Climate: Tanzania has two rainy seasons: the “long rains” (late March to June), and the “short rains” (November to January), and the best times to plan your wedding visit are December to March and June to October. More information about Tanzania weather.

At the moment we can only offer the following wedding ceremonies in Northern and Southern Tanzania - a mock wedding which is not legally binding or a wedding vow renewal. We cannot arrange a legally binding civil or religious wedding. We suggest for a civil wedding couples marry in Zanzibar and then honeymoon on safari in Tanzania - Selous, Ruaha, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater etc.

The Northern Circuit - Ngorongoro Crater

Weddings at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched on the edge of the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater at the eastern edge of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. Offering sumptuous safari suites, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is without doubt one of the most architecturally spectacular safari lodges in Africa. Your wedding ceremony could include being escorted by Maasai warriors to a rose-carpeted deck where your exchange of vows takes place, followed by sundowners overlooking Lake Eyasi. Ideal for an African wedding! "The sheer gall of blending chandeliers, raw silk drapes and teak panelling with vaulted Maasai huts banishes any hint of safari cliché and sets the scene for a mode of travel not seen since the Windsors swept through Africa, entire households in tow. Sophistication and First World service belie the remote location." Condé Nast Traveler

The Southern Circuit - Selous

Sun and Sandals Tours can arrange a marriage deep in the heart of Selous game reserve. Selous owes its name to Captain F.C. Selous who was killed in Selous in Tanzania during WW1. Today Selous is not just the largest conservation area in Tanzania but also the world. The best way to see Selous is therefore by train.

Selous is rightly famous for the Rufiji river system and the numerous lakes in the reserve, which offer the unique opportunity to take boat safaris. As part of a full day safari we drove to Lake Tagalala for a 2 hour cruise. This is a truly memorable experience enhanced by the fantastically beautiful surrounding countryside. The covered boat encircled the entire lake showcasing the enormous crocodiles basking on the shores, huge pods of inquisitive hippo, bird life beyond belief, and a train of animals emerging from the bush to drink at the lakeshore. This was a wildlife extravaganza movie taking place before our eyes.
