Ranan Pilgrimages and Spiritual Journeys is owned by ML Martin. The organisation has a detail history and background in travel and tourism, law, commerce, languages and theology.

ML Martin. Marlene started her academic career in Canada studying Theology.

Upon her return to South Africa she worked as a PA to the top management of Edward L. Bateman an engineering group and subsequently opened a travel agency for them.

She opened her first retail travel store in the 1980's in Edenvale. She has obtained her IATA/UFTAA Diploma and Galileo Safari Diploma.

She opened her second agency in Eastgate Shopping Canter in the early 1990's.

She has been a founding Member of SATSA, SKAL and Travel Bags.

In 1993 she turned to wholesale tourism with the opening of Sun and Sandals Tours. The business originally focussed solely on the islands of the Indian Ocean and Caribbean and now offers a range of destinations. In 2004 Marlene began research for her Masters Degree in theology.

Parallel to this she undertook an ILO Diploma on Gender Mainstreaming, Poverty Alleviation and Job Creation and was invited to participate in numerous research workshops along the lines of Gender, HIV/Aids, Poverty Relief and Job Creation.

She Graduated with her MTh Ethics in 2008 and is currently researching for her Ph.D. in Theology. Marlene is passionate about community projects, tourism as a means of Spirituality and Ethics. She has mentored two children - one from Sparrow Village in Maraisburg and another from Abraham Kriel Orphanage. She is currently actively involved with Setshabelo an Aids Orphan Project in Thokoza.

Ranan focusses on tailored and scheduled Christian pilgrimages to Israel, Jordan, Egypt in the Holy Land, Greece and Turkey as well as Catholic and Protestant Pilgrimages to Ireland, UK, Italy, France.
