Honeymoon and Wedding sites Many destinations
in Africa are highly seasonal – whether it be Cape Town (which is extremely popular
in the Summer months (September – March), or Tanzania for Great Migration (at
its peak from June to about November), or Botswana when game viewing is best in
Winter (June to September). However, each destination has something exciting and
different to offer, which makes African (whether Southern or East) a year-round
destination. Activities range from the classic game drive in an open vehicle,
to the world’s highest bungee jump, to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, to a gentle
walk in the world’s smallest and most diverse floral kingdom. Africa is an ancient
and fascinating continent – and you may find that you want to return again, and
again.
Stay at these fine
lodges: Camp Moremi is assured its status as Botswana's finest safari lodge
with facilities including a curio shop, swimming pool, covered boma and elevated
observation platform. It is situated on the Xakanaxa Lagoon within the Moremi
Game Reserve which has the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana.
Gaze in amazement at the profusion and diversity of the wildlife at Chobe Game
Lodge. The Elephant population, estimated at 30 000 and the largest single concentration
in Africa, survives within the confines of a proclaimed Chobe National Park. The
lodge also has superb conference facilities. If you want to experience one of
the best vacations in Africa, visit the unique Chobe Savanna Lodge, a lodge ideal
for the whole family. This lodge is situated in Namibia, and activities range
from walking safaris, or boat excursions in small boats, ideal for encounters
with wildlife along the Chobe River's edge. The unique design of the suites with
their spacious interior and large glass sliding doors sets Savute Safari Lodge
apart from typical safari accommodation. Facilities include a lounge, library
and cocktail bar. Savute
Safari Lodge has a large concentration of Lion and Hyena, as well as Leopard
and Cheetah. There are also many antelope species such as Impala, Kudu, Burchells
Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe and Steenbok. Camp Okavango, situated on remote Nxaragha
Island in the heart the Okavango Delta caters for Honeymooners and for those that
demand ultimate exclusivity, there is the 'Okavango Suite' and private game viewing
activities may be included. Okavango Delta's Xugana Island is Africa's most unique
wildlife and wilderness sanctuary. Stay in the Xugana Island Lodge's raised huts,
and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the delta and its wildlife. An African Experience
in Botswana with Desert & Delta Safaris While staying at these lodges, everything
is geared around the best game viewing times, specific to each lodge. Days
start very early, sometimes at sunrise and often finish late in the evening. This
is to utilise the best times to view game - so often the middle part of the day
is free for relaxation which is why all these lodges have swimming or plunge pools
with sun decks. All lodges are also equipped with well stocked libraries and comfortable
lounges to relax in. Smoking is not permitted in any of the safari vehicles, but
is allowed in sections of the lodge. All the lodges are small and exclusive, and
some of them are located in private concession areas only accessed in private
vehicles or aircraft. Most of these properties accommodate a maximum of between
16 and 24 people. The largest
property, Chobe Game Lodge, is the only permanent lodge built within the Chobe
National Park and has 50 rooms ( 1 family, 45 twins & 4 suites). It is a superb
property for a management conference with a difference or an incentive group.
Despite the remote locations of the lodges, all the rooms (and in some cases tents),
have the comforts one would expect from a modern hotel - en-suite bathrooms, walk
in showers, flush toilets, and in some of the properties, air-conditioned rooms
and where air-conditioning is not available, overhead fans. The aim is to make
your stay as comfortable as possible so such amenities as tea/coffee making facilities
in the rooms and hair dryers are provided for. Each
lodge is very different and this website is able to offer a choice of tented or
brick and thatch accommodation depending on your preference. Most of the lodges
rely on generator power and 12 volt batteries for lighting at night, but in some
cases there are permanent power via underground cables. Whatever the case, the
chances are that you won't even notice! Travelling Between the Lodges Part of
the excitement of visiting Desert & Delta Safaris Lodges, is the getting around!
A fully integrated private air charter service is offered, operated by a subsidiary
company Safari Air, which operates single engined Cessna 206's, 207's, 210's and
twin engined Britten Norman Islander aircraft . Some of the lodges have their
own private airstrips. However, if flying in a light aircraft is not your cup
of tea, then make use of specially adapted four wheel drive vehicles for transfers
to or between the lodges that can be accessed by land. For the water-based lodges
in the Delta and the Chobe/Namibia areas, private powerboats are used for transfers.
In fact Desert & Delta is the only safari company in Botswana to offer such a
service for travel between lodges enabling for you to have a truly unique experience.
The vehicles at the lodges are either open Toyota Landcruisers carrying a maximum
of 7 people or Land Rover game-viewing vehicles carrying a maximum of 9 people.
All Landcruisers have individual buckets seats while the Land Rovers have bench
seats. Each vehicle has a removable canvas roof enabling for shade and ample storage
space for cameras, binoculars etc. The Landrovers at Chobe Game Lodge are even
equipped with 12V power points for your cam recorders. search terms- botswana
