BRIEF DESCRIPTION WEDDING PROCEDURE
How
do I get married in Dubai? There are numerous options of how and where to get
married in Dubai due to the multicultural diversity of the country. Muslims can
marry at the Dubai Court. (the Sharia Court) The groom must be Muslim & the bride
can be Christian or Muslim. Dubai Court Marriage Section is open: Sun-Thurs: 7:30am-2pm
& 5:30pm-8:30pm. Catholics & Christians - can marry at a church. The Church conducts
marriage ceremonies infront of a Priest and in line with the Roman Catholic Church.
Such marriages are recognized by UAE government. Christians can marry in a Church
infront of the Chaplain. These marriages are also recognized by UAE government
& are conducted in line with the Church of England.
The
Chaplain can also discuss with you possible alternative locations for the ceremony
to take place e.g: on the beach or at one of the hotels. Open: Sat-Thurs 9am-1pm.
Indian Hindus - can marry at the Hindu Temple in Dubai. If you are not religious
you may also be able to marry at your embassy (but you must check that they perform
the ceremony first) The British Embassy does not perform marriage ceremonies.
TIPS: One key issue to check is whether the wedding ceremony you decide upon is
recognized as valid in your home country. For some services you must register
your marriage certificate once you arrive home for it to be valid in your home
country as well. Check with your embassy or consulate.

Wedding
Requirements Dubai is currently a very popular wedding destination as the cost
of a wedding in Dubai compares favourably to most European destinations. Muslim,
Christian and Hindu ceremonies can all be accommodated although differing regulations
apply for civil weddings. For British citizens, statuary requirements state that
the marriage ceremony should be conducted in the Anglican Church, so it is legally
recognised by the British and U.A.E laws. This can be followed up by a blessing
at a chosen venue eg. beach, desert. Non-British citizens can be married at a
chosen venue outside the church and their marriage will be valid.
